If your net worth is growing, you have substantial assets, own a successful business, and/or own multiple properties, you will want to strongly consider a trust. Trusts are not a one size fits all situation and specifics should be discussed with an attorney to determine the best plan for your estate.
By scheduling a consult, between the client and Rebecca Lively Law - we will design a customized approach for the best way to protect your assets.

An advanced directive provides a way for you to communicate your wishes to healthcare professionals and family when you are no longer able to make medical decisions for yourself (i.e., Incapacitation, serious illness, disability).
Having an advance directive takes the weight off of the family in moments of unknown and grief.

A Power of Attorney is a legal document that gives someone (that you trust with your life) the legal power to act on your behalf.
There are different types of Power of Attorney (General, Durable, Medical, Etc.) and will range based on the powers you would like to grant an individual to act on your behalf.
A power of attorney only allows your agent to do the things you want to be done for you. It does not limit your ability to do something for yourself.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is federal law that implemented privacy protections for important healthcare information and records. Under HIPAA, your personal health information is generally protected from disclosure to third parties, except as you authorize or as is required by law.
The HIPAA authorization names designated representatives who may receive protected medical information. Without this document, your family may be left in the dark and unable to receive information regarding your condition.

A Transfer on Death Deed, or T.O.D.D., is a simple way to transfer land, homes, buildings, or vehicles to someone else after you die. T.O.D.D.s are desirable as the assets are transferred directly to the beneficiary, without involvement in Probate. Additionally - T.O.D.D.’s can be revoked/cancelled at any time.
